Aisle

Established in 1993, Aisle was one of the first companies in the world to bring modern reusable period products to the masses. The company was founded by Suzanne Siemens and Madeleine Shaw to create products that were free of allergens, bleaches and other irritants. Aisle believes the period aisle should be stocked with radically comfortable products that actually work – for people and the planet.

Aisle products are reusable for years, and have a significantly lower environmental footprint compared to conventional tampons and pads. By using these products, CO2 emissions are reduced by up to 95%, energy consumption is reduced by up to 94% and waste is reduced by up to 99%. Aisle’s pad manufacturing facility is zero-waste, and it’s diverted over 10,800 pounds of textile waste from landfills since 2018.

Aisle’s pads and underwear use a combination of safe, eco-certified materials like organic cotton, Tencel™ and recycled polyester. All Aisle products are regularly tested by SGS – a leading testing and inspection company – to provide assurance as to whether PFAS (a large group of chemically manufactured compounds that do not break down in the environment) are present in any fabric layers of its liners, pads and underwear. No detectable levels of PFAS have been found in Aisle period underwear or menstrual pads.

Aisle has been a certified B Corporation since 2012 and it remains the #1 ranked period care B Corp in the world. Aisle’s pads are ethically manufactured in Vancouver, Canada, at a local factory that is woman-owned and operated.

The company’s underwear is manufactured in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, at a factory where employees receive a comprehensive pension plan, a free hot lunch every day and six months’ paid maternity leave. There is a wastewater treatment facility on site, to ensure the water the factory uses in manufacturing is clean and safe before leaving the facility.
