The US-based company is set to radically shift approaches to women’s healthcare and, in particular, the diagnosis of endometriosis, a condition that’s largely left women misunderstood and dismissed by traditional healthcare providers. According to DotLab’s website, one in 10 women are affected by endometriosis, with traditional diagnosis taking an average of 11 years and invasive medical procedures being the most accurate way to detect it.

DotEndo measures biomarkers in the blood to identify active endometriosis at every stage of the disease, independent of hormones, menstrual cycle or symptoms. This breakthrough could make endometriosis as easy to identify as diabetes, with a blood test, and close the long gap between diagnosis and treatment. This could prevent the spread of endometriosis, which can lead to further health problems.
