Erewhon

Inspired by the macrobiotic creed, Erewhon founders Michio and Aveline Kushi started to sell macrobiotic and organic foods from a stall in Boston in 1966. Erewhon was the first store of its kind in the US and it became a model for many other similar natural food stores across the country.

Two years later, Aveline Kushi moved to Los Angeles and opened Erewhon West at 8001 Beverly Boulevard. The Kushis built Erewhon on the core belief that if we fill our bodies with the best the Earth has to offer, we can become our best selves.

Erewhon views nutrition as the key to a radiant lifestyle. Through its markets across California, it endeavours to provide exceptional organic products that inspire good decision-making and healthier communities.

In 2022, Erewhon became a certified organic retailer. While the USDA doesn't require an organic certification for retailers that sell organic products, Erewhon decided to take the extra steps required to get certified in order to provide the highest-quality organic foods and products.
