Lucy Bee

Lucy Bee’s founder is a beauty therapist, who has always been interested in what she puts into – and onto – her body. Working in spas and salons meant she was introduced to many different products and all sorts of ingredients she had never heard of or could pronounce. The experience made her realise what was in a lot of products we use and question that these were being absorbed into her body, through her skin.

Lucy started to create her own products and loved the fact that she knew exactly what she was putting on her skin and that the products were completely natural. The skincare range followed on from this, so that she could share these products and her passion with others.

With Lucy Bee’s emphasis on caring for the environment, a major point with developing the skincare range was to make sure that the products would be free from palm oil, including any derivatives of palm oil. In addition, some of Lucy Bee’s products are certified organic and natural by the Soil Association, which provides the assurance that they are made from sustainably sourced, organic ingredients, with a transparent manufacturing process and biodegradable ingredients.

Lucy Bee makes every effort to minimise its packaging and to use only the most sustainable materials available. In its packaging, the company uses recyclable glass jars, aluminium tubes and card cartons over plastic containers.

All of Lucy Bee’s beauty products are manufactured in the UK and are certified vegan and cruelty-free. Additionally, the company’s soap bars are certified Fair Trade. Lucy Bee works with the Fair Trade Sustainability Alliance, through which it pays a 10% premium for its coconuts and funds are used for both sustainable community projects and higher wages.

Each year, Lucy Bee works closely with a chosen charity and donations are made in various ways. For example, the company offsets its carbon footprint by donating the equivalent amount to the charity. It also donates food products and soap bars to charities across the UK, Malawi and the Philippines.
