MoEa’s founders are driven by one objective: bringing people sustainable fashion without compromising on style. As co-founder Achille Gazagnes explains: “We’ve launched MoEa to create sneakers that offer the same level of style and comfort you’d expect to see in your favourite leather pair, while ensuring that the planet isn’t some sort of a meaningless afterthought and that animals aren’t treated with cruelty.”

MoEa is a member of La Caserne, the largest ecological transition accelerator for the fashion and luxury industry in Europe. The company works with biomaterials that are produced in Europe, except for the cactus, which is produced in Mexico. It’s developed a new process to recycle old MoEa shoes into new soles, through which it saves up to 40% of the rubber in each pair of soles.

MoEa shoes are handcrafted in Guimaraes, Portugal, by skilled shoemakers in a workshop that respects all European labour standards. The company only works with suppliers that have enabled it to visit their production sites and its shoe factory uses 100% renewable energy. The production process is chromium-free and 64% of MoEa’s shoemakers are women.
